I wrote this 1/20/2018. When this was gonna be called The 20s matter LMAO. It’s unfinished, but the point is the evolution I went through before I actually executed.

None of the previous things were perfect and nothing I’m posting in the current year is perfect, so if you take anything away from this blog, I want it to be for you to just start! Anyway what I wrote is below.

I got some good sleep last night, almost my optimal 10 hours to keep me lightly functional all day. It’s January 20th, Aquarius season has officially begun and Drake just dropped new music. Safe to say I felt good this morning. Through God of course. That Scary Hours was just what I needed. “God’s plan”, I heard the song once and new some of the lyrics on my first replay. Diplomatic Immunity is just the right type of hard Drake I needed for my commute. I always said I feel like I grew up with Drake, like his albums were the soundtrack to my years in high school and college and his random song drops were the summers and with Scary Hours he didn’t disappoint, God’s plan is exactly where I am in my life and I felt like this was the perfect time to introduce the vlog and blog, so The 20s matter….

Edit: I found more to this but apparently didn’t come back to it until 11/18/2018 LMAOOO! Anyway…

Why?

Because life after college wasn’t exactly what we expected. Maybe it was better, maybe worse. Maybe you got that job you dreamed of from young and it didn’t live up to the hype. Maybe you got a job totally off a whim and it turned out to be your dream job. Maybe you chased your dreams. Maybe you left your dreams for practicality or out of necessity. We’re not here to judge. Whatever maybe fits you, you’re not alone. We know how you feel.

For:

The realness you need

The light tap or rough shove you need to get back to your dreams

The inspirational words

The support you need

The advice you still need

We’re here to offer you of all it.

Millinnels unite. Young, Black, and loving it.

Strategies to make it in self-development: life, wellness, and finances.

Self confidence is a skill. The belief in yourself to accomplish any task. Easiest way to build self-confidence is through repetition. Persistence doesn’t accept no. Self-talk- what you say to yourself. Affirmations- I am the captain of my ship and master of my fate. Reward kids for what they do right not what’s wrong “great job for blah blah blah”

Fear of failure

  1. You give everything it’s power
  2. Failure is nothing but the halfway mark to success
  3. There’s no such thing as perfect

Making it:

  1. Hard work and action beats talent any day

Comparisons:

Change:

  1. Embrace change, it’s the only consistent thing we have
  2. Change will happen, you choose if it’s a blessing

Advice adults would give to their younger selves

 Life after college

  1. College wasn’t the end- life does get better
  2. Don’t compare your journey to anyone – not even your friends (some of us take a little longer to find out calling)
  3. You won’t be making top dollar right away
  4. You probably won’t be married with children before 30 (this isn’t the rule anymore, married before 30 is the exception. Our time is spent dating around, which can work out
  5. Your major doesn’t matter- I went to school for Communications and was in customer service post graduation and then teaching for a year. The various fields helped me explore and develop skills and also helped me rule out what I didn’t want to do with my life.

Thoughts

  1. Everything begins with your thoughts. You change your thoughts, you change your life.

Discovering your passion

Self care all 2018:

  1. Get enough sleep
  2. Spend time alone, away from your phone (I started lighting candles and taking a bath once a week to spend that much needed time with myself and my thoughts. I also add apple cider vinegar to make it a detox bath). Meditation is another great way to
  3. Treat yourself
  4. Spirituality
  5. Putting goals on paper
